Safe, Loved, And Always Welcomed Back

Adoption Return

At Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue (RMDR), our policy requires that any dog adopted through RMDR must be returned to us if they can no longer remain in your care. We understand that circumstances can change, and while this decision is never easy, please know that you are doing the right thing by ensuring your dachshund returns to a safe and supportive environment.

Life events such as moving, changes in family circumstances, health challenges, or other personal reasons can sometimes make it difficult to continue caring for a dog. Please know that we will never judge your situation—our priority is always the well-being of the dog.

Please note: returning your adopted dog to RMDR means that ownership fully transfers back to the rescue. This includes relinquishing all rights to the dog. Once returned, the dog cannot be re-adopted by you.

Thank you for honoring your adoption agreement and for safeguarding your dachshund’s future by returning them to RMDR.
