We Are Here To Help

Surrender A Dog

Considering relinquishing your beloved dog is a difficult decision. Various circumstances can lead to this choice, and we’re here to offer support. We’re grateful you’ve reached out to us.

We understand that life changes, such as moving, the loss of a loved one, divorce, or personal health issues, can necessitate rehoming a pet. Are you thinking about surrendering your senior dog? As dachshunds age, their needs change, and they may require a little extra care and understanding to stay happy and comfortable.

Whatever the reason, there are a couple of things you may want to consider before parting ways. Rest assured, we don’t judge your situation; our goal is to assist you and your dog.

Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue provides a caring foster home and ensures your dachshund receives proper vet care. When they’re ready, we carefully match them with their forever family. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We strive for a smooth transition, but it may take some time due to factors like available fosters and the number of dogs in our care. We prioritize finding the right match between fosters and dogs, considering the needs of both parties.

If your dachshund is accepted into our rescue, it means transferring your full ownership of the dog to Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue. This includes: relinquishing all of your rights to the dog and understanding that there will be no updates, contact with their foster, or future adopters. Please also note that once surrendered, the dog will not be returned to you.

Please understand that while we empathize with your situation, we are a small unpaid, volunteer-run organization with limited resources. We ask for your patience as we manage multiple rescue related responsibilities alongside our personal and professional lives. We will reach out to you as soon as possible. Note: After submitting the form below please answer your phone. When you receive a call or text message from an unknown number, after submitting your surrender form, it is likely going to be us trying to reach you. Please respond promptly to initiate the surrender process.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to provide the best care for every dachshund with RMDR.
