* ADOPTION PENDING *
WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS TO ADOPT BLUIE. We will notify all applicants. We are happy to process your application as a pre-authorization for other dogs who become available with the rescue.
We truly appreciate everybody’s interest in him, and hope you will consider adopting another rescued dachshund or dachshund mix like Bluie. His foster was curious and had his DNA tested through Embark, here are his results (in case you’re curious too)

Meet Bluie, aka “Bloolander” because, as you can see (below), he is really, really, ridiculously good looking.
This little 4-5 month, 11 lb., merle dachshund or dachshund mix with one blue eye will steal your hearts with not only his good looks, but his outgoing and loving personality.

He loves everyone/thing and will shower you with kisses and loves and snuggles (also bites, because he is a baby, but he can work on that). Bluie lives in his foster home with three other doggos, two kitties, and two adult humans. He’s not nervous or aggressive towards any of them, and will back off when the kitties give him a warning slap.
He can get a little sassy about food, treats, and toys – but that has been mostly with his foster puppy brother who is the same – but he is VERY receptive to the word “NO” and he will learn quickly in the right environment.
Bluie is potty trained in his foster house that has a dog door and other dogs that go outside to potty. If he goes to a home without a doggy door he may need a refresher. He doesn’t seem to be much of a barker, even when ALL the other dogs bark, but his wrasslin’ sounds can get pretty loud!!

He knows “sit” and “come” and is VERY smart – he will likely be easily trainable and receptive with the right parents. He loves soft beds, but is also just as happy to “sploot” on the hardwood floor and nap. He currently sleeps in bed with his foster family. He is not crate trained.
Bluie REALLY likes being with his humans, so he’d likely be best with a family that wants to include him in their adventures and take him places. He is likely mixed with perhaps a mini Aussie, so he will need a lot of activity and stimulation (dachshunds do, too).
Complimentary Embark DNA tests are pending, and he will be neutered soon and have all his puppy shots done!
So, does this little model-in-the-making look like someone you could manage? Apply to adopt Bluie!
